Where the facts come from

Species lists come from each state's wildlife agency checklists. An animal is called venomous only when a state agency, an Extension service or a federal source says so; when none does, we say "not stated", never "harmless". Invasive species come from state agency lists and the U.S. Geological Survey. Month-by-month activity comes from open-licence observation records on GBIF. Every page lists its sources with dates.
